We’ve got love, we’ve got strength, we’ve been thru difficult times There were wars, a great depression, unemployment, bread lines There’s been injustice, but there’s been progress Millions marching, acts of Congress What I’m trying to say is………………… we will survive There’s been elections, bitterly fought, tho this one’s worse then what we remember I feel so low about next year, and its only November What a year we have had Musicians died, election’s gone bad What I’m trying to say is………………we will survive It looks grim, I’ve done the math, next year we may be on the wrong path Not the first time, not the last, that our leader is a sociopath Time to roll up your sleeves All good people don’t just leave What I’m trying to say is…………we will survive (c) M. It’s mourning in America I spell that M O U R N Feels less like a beginning and more like an end No one saw it coming, though the radar showed a blip It was hard to imagine all the places that would flip The end of an era that started with such style Whose every favorite virtue they’re waiting to defile Not sure who can help us now we are on our own What started as a flesh wound is down to the bone The social fabric torn, something dark is exposed Like all the garden flowers died except one lonely rose And just when you think there will always be more roses You feel like you’ve been hit by a cancer diagnosis I’m living in that feeling its been seeping thru my skin It penetrates thru everything and lodges deep within My vision’s not so rosy I see battle lines in my sleep And when I see a crowd I think I’m just seeing sheep Sheep that were manipulated by a master of the con Here comes another dark age I’m not seeing any dawn (c) M. Strategy 02:17
We need a strategy for living with this reality A new philosophy, to try to keep our sanity Don’t dwell in the past , we gotta make it last Start out local, keep yourself vocal Pay money for journalism, support feminism Give to planned parenthood, be active in your neighborhood Don’t stand for racist priorities, stand firmly with minorities Do call out privilege everywhere, fight for decent healthcare Find folks with different points of view, find out things they hold as true Where you can find common ground, try to make them come around When there’s nothing more to say, remember on election day Don’t hold out for utopia, or some imagined panacea Try to be more practical, all politics is tactical Martin Luther King and Abraham Lincoln, didn’t stay home overthinking Don’t give up hope, succumb to fear, the tide will turn so will these next four years these are the commandments of staying engaged don’t burn out too early, don’t just stop at enraged we’re in for the long haul, we just gotta fight a little longer what doesn’t kill us or make us fall, will only make us stronger (c) M. Please concentrate Don't hesitate It's not too late There's no debate As we, irate Recriminate Depreciate Obfuscate Confiscate And desecrate Rather then collaborate Appreciate Stimulate Accommodate Cultivate Educate And dedicate Get one thing straight Love trumps hate (c) M. Skliar

Oh the free states and the slave states, decided to have a party They’d party like it was 1787, yes siree But they couldn’t agree on much, so a compromise was drafted That’s how the electoral college came to be Now most colleges have tuition, and some ivy-covered professors But this college meets only once every four years At that rate they’re still in their first term, first term freshmen year And you know how freshmen can’t handle their beer Now twice in the last five elections, that college got it all mixed up The loser of the popular vote won the race But if you look at the way it was set up, it was a last escape hatch Our last escape hatch against disgrace “Independent Judgment” said James Madison And Hamilton thought the electors would be more wise And the same bias in the system, that gives power to the smaller states Gives Republicans an advantage realized Oh the red states and the blue states, decided to have a party And party like it was 2016 But democracy has suffered, and we are all the poorer Between a rock and a hard place we are caught between (c) M. I used to love to watch the news, and read all about politics Since the election it’s a different tune, I can’t even watch or I’m gonna get sick Is he gonna appoint Goring or Goebbels/ I’d rather be smothered by a million gerbils I gotta take a break from watching the news, and stay away from politics Its gonna be escapist novels for me, nothing like what I was reading before Nothing that gives me that creepy feeling, like seeing parallels to Orwell’s 1984 I gotta forget it at least till December, what happened last week I wish I didn’t remember I wish I could burn it out of my brain, its like war and peace except its only the war Hamilton warned us of the people’s choice, but Hamilton is dead, killed in a duel Things can get bad and things can get worse, its sad to realize we will be governed by fools Fools who were elected on a platform of lies, and now its time for them to rip off the disguise This is gonna be quite the four year disaster, and even worse then anyone’s worst high school I used to love to watch the news, and read all about politics Since the election it’s a different tune, I can’t even watch or I’m gonna get sick Is he gonna appoint Goring or Goebbels/ I’d rather be smothered by a million gerbils I gotta take a break from watching the news, and stay away from politics © M. They keep trying/ to put us under they didn’t know we were seeds we’re qualifying / to call down thunder and we’ll get just what we need Its out there among the stars Waiting for us to see it And if you help me out Give a shout And we can be it All these events /Got ya down Nothing stays the same Things are bent/And scary clowns Sometimes bring the rain Supermoon come and shine with All the finest Of the season And if you can help me out Give a shout You’re the reason Faucet leaking /Moon shining Another average day We’re seeking / A silver lining That never goes away Its out there among the stars Waiting for / us to see it And if you help me out / Give a shout And we can be that silver lining, be that silver lining, we can keep on shining in the sky (c) M. about

This is a very quick down-and-dirty mini-album (EP, they used to call it) written and recorded in the 2 weeks after the 2016 US Presidential election, and recorded very simply, live with no overdubs.

Like many, I've been feeling disheartened, depressed, angry and sad about the results of the election. This album is one way to express these feelings but also to hopefully transcend them, to find things to do, avenues both inside and outside to travel, and connect with others who feel some of this as well. I hope this resonates with a few people out there.
